Everyone's a Concession

Even though you should give your seat up to the elderly on public transport we don't think it's fair that students and old people always get all the concession perks. To compensate, each Tuesday at Rooftop Cinema you can feel free to take their seats by presenting your valid Metcard at our box office for a concession discount*. You can also plan your journey to Rooftop Cinema using Metlink's "Journey Planner" and selecting Rooftop as a Landmark. * Valid for cash sales only

Rooftop Market

The Rooftop Market is an independent Melbourne designer market on the Curtin House rooftop running every Friday until December 19 2008. Curated by ThreeThousand’s editors, the market will feature fashion, jewellery, design objects and small publishing projects, with a changing lineup of stalls each week. Labels featured in this year’s market include Ant!podium, All of the Above, Limedrop, Iggy and Lou Lou, Kuwaii and Who Am Eye. Rooftop Market is a social event as well as a shopping destination. It is powered by the rooftop bar’s drinks menu and an iPodplaylist created by the designers. All sales are CASH ONLY!

City lights, camera, action!

Welcome to Rooftop Cinema's News section. Over the course of the season this page will be updated with articles, interviews and other things that may or may not relate to our program. We're not trying to start the blog equivalent of The Movie Show, but instead to have fun and engage in a broader dialogue while celebrating the power of film that exists far beyond the actual cinema. Email us, remind us to check our facts and watch our mouths, and remember to tell your friends if you like what you see.

Planet of the Crepes

For those that haven’t noticed, crepes are currently 'du jour' and, unlike bread, you can pretty much stuff them with anything. On the Rooftop, Maurice and his team are filling them with everything from Peking duck to Bolognaise, roast vegetables and of course the more sugary alternatives. Wrapped and triangularly bundled for your convenience, these babies are more than just part of the food pyramid — they are the food pyramid. MENU Lemon and sugar 6.50 / Banana and nutella 7.50 / Strawberry and dark chocolate 8.50 / Ham, brie and grilled asparagus 9.00 / Bolognaise and mozzarella 9.50 / Peking duck, cucumber, hoisin sauce and iceberg lettuce 14.00 / Chilli beans, zucchini, coriander and sour cream 9.00 / Grilled vegetables, basil and goats cheese 9.50 / Swiss brown mushrooms, thyme, spinach and 3 cheeses 11.00

See you next summer!

Rooftop Cinema has finished it's 08/09 Season, and will be back next Summer. In a drought we must admit that we always feel bad hoping that it doesn’t rain. That said, for us it’s far more than good weather that makes for a great cinema season. As this is our last news update, we would like to do a little rain dance and say thank you to everyone that attended Rooftop this Summer. We would also like to thank our sponsors for helping us get the season started, our cinema staff for keeping the season running, our programmers for making it interesting.
